Fresh: having its original qualities unimpaired. Fresh is what most people think that foods in the grocery store are. But in reality, most of the grown food, particularly in the US, has lost its essential nutrients. In the movie "Fresh," they talk about food production in America, how it's changed over the years, and what some people do to make nutrient-rich and healthier food. Fresh hopes to translate the issues industrialization has had on farming, like monocultures, manure lagoons, and unnutritious foods.
They show these problems in the movie by introducing several different farmers, some using mainly pesticides and artificial fertilizer and others working their farms as they would be in nature. For example, Joel Salatin, a sustainable farmer from Swoope, Virginia, moves his cows from pasture to pasture to imitate what they would do in the wild, "always moving." Doing this avoids what leading industrialized farms do: feeding dead things to cows. This causes cows to experience mad cow, which is an incurable and invariably fatal neurodegenerative disease of cattle. However, by providing these herbivores what they need, plants or grass, they won't get a mad cow or other harmful conditions like the cows in commercial/industrialized farms. Salatin prevents the cows from eating their experiment and allows the paddock/pasture to re-vegetate. He also brings chickens to the field the cows were just at to enable them to get the fly larva from the cow patties for food like they would in the wild. By doing all this, Salatin can replicate what the environment would be like in nature, which produces better quality and more nutrient-rich products: meat, eggs, and the various crops they rotate through. Some of the things that stood out were the varying experiences that each farmer went through. For example, Saltin with his full-scale cow and chicken farm in farming land to Will Allen, who lives in an Urban area but can still help teach people how to produce healthy, sustainable food. By showing all these different farmers, Fresh shows the public that they, too, can provide healthy, sustainable food and hopefully impact the current food system of processed foods.

Even though most people want easy access to food, it's better and healthier for people to consume more natural foods instead of processed foods that lead to health issues like obesity, heart disease, and high blood sugar, to name a few. I hope reading this, you'll watch the movie Fresh for yourself and see what you can do to change how you eat.
Right off the bat, your entry is so appealing to the eye and automatically draws me in. You did a great job of summing up the main points of the movie Fresh and even linking to some words to have their definition for those who may not know is an even extra step that was done amazingly. I like that you highlighted one of my favorite parts of the movie with Saltin going against the industrial way and still trying to bring the natural methods into the new age of farming.
